Interesting. It does seem telling of current evangelical thought and tastes.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Christianity Today's book awards, Canlis's book is completely incorrect about Calvin, Wright is wrong on much of what he writes about now (especially justification, so it would be hard to believe he gets sanctification right), Peterson is semi-Emergent and mystical. However, McGrath is good, *Almost Christian* is probably good as it is based on some excellent data used in *Soul Searching*, and Lian Xi's book looks interesting. He wrote another interesting one called *The Conversion of Missionaries: Liberalism in American Protestant Missions in China, 1907–1932*.
Regarding ECPA's list, it is of course sad to see *The Shack* so high up there, and easy books by Lucado and Meyer, but at least Chan has two titles in the top ten.
